Land Office draftsman Eltea Armstrong created this Dickens County map that tells the story of Soldier Mound. Known also as Anderson's Fort and Lawton's Supply Camp, Soldier Mound served as the base of operations for the 4th Cavalry as the Army attempted to drive out Comanche and other Indian tribes from northwest Texas.
