Corn Field was painted by Franz Strahalm. Born in Vienna, Austria, he studied at the Art School of Hamburg. He eventually moved to Dallas and opened the School in Fine Painting, a private art studio. Although he specialized in Texas landscapes, the artist also produced portrait and mural work. He spent much time on sketching trips during the summers of 1926 and 1927, venturing as far as northern New Mexico to capture Native American lift there.
