Clara Driscoll was a Texas-born businesswoman, philanthropist and historic preservationist who provided the majority of funds to preserve the Alamo in San Antonio. A native Texan, she worked with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas to purchase the Alamo for preservation. Sometimes known as the "Savior of the Alamo," she also built Laguna Gloria in Austin, now part of the Contemporary Austin art complex.
