William Barret Travis sent a letter to the People of Texas on February 24, 1836, noting that he and nearly 200 Alamo defenders were under siege and needed help. Together these brave men courageously held off Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and the Mexican army for almost two weeks before they were defeated and killed on March 6. "Remember the Alamo!" would be the rallying cry six weeks later at the Battle of San Jacinto. 20.75" x 18.75 "
