In celebration of fifteen years of Capitol preservation and education projects, the State Preservation Board is pleased to introduce the 2010 Capitol Ornament, fifteenth in a series of annual collectible ornaments. This year’s ornament combines many of the architectural and decorative elements featured in past ornaments and reflects a rich tradition of historic preservation embraced by Texans since 1996. To date, more than $5 million has been generated through the sale of the ornament in support of ongoing Capitol conservation and maintenance programs, including public education about the building, its contents, and the historic Capitol grounds. The Capitol Dome Project is one such project. Badly in need of repair and repainting, the Dome and surrounding rooftops are being repainted and weather-related damage is being repaired. The work, scheduled to be completed in time for the holidays, will ensure that the building is durable enough to withstand the harsh Texas weather for years to come. Made in the USA.
